vākyamapratikūlaṃ tu mṛdupūrvaṃ śubhaṃ hitam | upacāreṇa yuktaṃ ca vaktavyo vasudhādhipaḥ ||
English Scholarly Translation
It is always proper to speak before monarchs such pleasant and favourable words as are intended for the welfare of the master and are sanctioned by the royal etiquette.
