स्थानं नः पूर्व-जानामियमधिकमसौ प्रेयसी पूरयोध्या दूरादालोक्यते या हुत-विविध-हविः- प्रीणिताऽशेष-देवा । सोऽयं देशो रुदन्तं पुर-जनमखिलं यत्र हित्वा प्रयातौ आवां सीते ! वनाऽन्तं सह धृत-धृतिना लक्ष्मणेन क्षपाऽन्ते ॥

Karandikar:
This, the place of our ancestors, this very dear city of Ayodhya wherein all the Gods without a remnant are propitiated with various oblations offered (to them), is seen from afar ; this, Oh Sita, is the region from where having left all the citizen-folk weeping, we two , along with Laksmana who had sustained his courage, went at the end of the night to the sylvan region.
