English Scholarly Translation
You are the inner chamber of Śiva the enemy of cities. Therefore the right of
worship at your feet is not easily accessible to those of restless senses. For indeed these gods, headed
by Indra, have been brought to unparalleled accomplishment — by the eight siddhis beginning with aṇimā
which stand stationed near your doorway.
व्याख्या / Traditional Commentary & Notes Classical Exegesis
【Title: The Goddess's Inner Chamber — Aṇimā and the Siddhis at the Door】 The antaḥpura (inner chamber, zenana, the private quarters of a royal woman) is accessible only by invitation — not even the king's courtiers enter without permission. The Goddess is Śiva's antaḥpura: the most private, most protected, most intimate space of the divine. Access to her — particularly foot-worship (caraṇa-saparyā) — requires the stilled senses (tārala-karaṇa = restless senses, is the obstacle). The eight supernatural powers (aṇimā etc.) standing as doorkeepers means that even the gods must pass through the gatekeepers of supernatural accomplishment to reach the inner chamber — yet they arrive not as masters of the siddhis but as petitioners.
