English Scholarly Translation
O banner of the mountain king! There is not the slightest tremor of doubt in
our minds [that] these two breasts of yours are ruby flasks of nectar-juice. Because those two — the
elephant-face-cleaver and the Krauñca-mountain-piercer (Gaṇeśa and Skanda) — are still youthful to this
day, never having known the pleasure of a wife's company, because they are still drinking from
them.
व्याख्या / Traditional Commentary & Notes Classical Exegesis
【Title: The Breasts as Ruby Vessels of Nectar】 Kutupa is a flask or vessel for holding precious liquids. The breasts as amṛta-rasa-māṇikya-kutupa (ruby flasks of nectar-juice) compress three metaphors: (1) the breast's shape like a rounded flask; (2) its ruby-red colour; (3) the milk it contains which is equated with nectar (amṛta). The proof offered for this identification is clever logic: Gaṇeśa and Skanda, despite being the most powerful of gods — elephant-head-makers and mountain-piercers — remain youthful (kumāra = perpetually young) and innocent of marriage because they have never stopped drinking from the Goddess's breasts. If the milk were ordinary, they would have outgrown it long ago. Only nectar could maintain eternal youth. Therefore the breasts are nectar-flasks.
