IU 5

Canonical Ref: IU 5
Sanskrit (Devanāgarī)
तदेजति तन्नैजति तद्दूरे तद्वन्तिके ।
तदन्तरस्य सर्वस्य तदु सर्वस्यास्य बाह्यतः ॥५॥
English Scholarly Translation
That moves and That moves not; That is far and the same is near;
That is within all this and That also is outside all this.
व्याख्या / Traditional Commentary & Notes Classical Exegesis
Here the Upaniṣad intensifies the paradox: the One moves and does not move, is distant and near, within all and outside all. These are not contradictions but descriptions of a consciousness that is simultaneously transcendent and immanent. The intellect cannot seize this reality, but vision can.
