1. Policy Overview and Scope

This policy establishes clear, transparent procedures for making post-publication changes to articles published in PIJCACE. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards of scholarly integrity while ensuring the published record remains accurate, reliable, and trustworthy.

Guiding Principles

  • Transparency: All changes are clearly documented and publicly visible
  • Timeliness: Concerns are investigated and resolved promptly
  • Fairness: Authors are given opportunity to respond to allegations
  • Integrity: The scholarly record is preserved and not deleted
  • COPE Guidelines: All procedures follow Committee on Publication Ethics best practices
Important

Retracted or corrected articles remain online with clear notices of their status. We do not remove published content from the scholarly record.

2. Types of Post-Publication Updates

Partial Retraction Retraction of specific sections Yes

3. Minor Corrections

Definition

Minor corrections are small changes that do not significantly affect the work's interpretation, conclusions, or crediting. These are made directly to the published article (in situ) without issuing a separate correction notice.

Examples of Minor Corrections

  • Spelling or grammatical errors
  • Formatting inconsistencies
  • Minor typographical errors in references
  • Correction of incorrect punctuation
  • Minor layout or display issues
  • Broken internal links within the article

Procedure

Step 1: Identification

Error identified by author, reader, or editorial team

Step 2: Verification

Editorial office verifies the error is minor and non-substantial

Step 3: Correction

Article is updated directly with corrections

Step 4: Update

PDF regenerated with new date stamp; CrossMark metadata updated

Note

When a minor correction is made, the PDF is regenerated with a new date stamp. The CrossMark button will show the article has been updated but will not display a separate correction notice.

4. Major Corrections and Errata

Definition

Major corrections (errata or corrigenda) address significant errors that could affect the interpretation of the work, the crediting of contributions, or readers' understanding of the research.

When a Major Correction is Required

A separate correction notice is published when errors affect:

  • Data or Results: Numerical errors, incorrect figures or tables, mislabeled data
  • Authorship: Missing authors, incorrect author names or affiliations
  • Methodology: Significant errors in methods description
  • Citations: Substantial reference errors that affect attribution
  • Conclusions: Errors that could lead to different interpretations
  • Funding/COI: Missing or incorrect acknowledgment of funding or conflicts
  • Permissions: Improperly attributed content
