Abstract
The article presents the results of a 3D geological model of the Sherkent oil and gas field, created using Schlumberger’s Petrel software. The Sherkent structure was prepared for exploratory drilling in 2007 based on the interpretation of 3D seismic survey data. The area is situated within a zone of deep-water carbonate deposits, on the boundary of a sublatitudinally trending horst composed of sublatitudinal faults with amplitudes of 50–100 m and faults of a northeastern trend. Key faults divide the horst into separate blocks with amplitudes ranging from 0 to 50 m. A fault with a submeridional trend separates the Sherkent structural block from Mangyt. The faults that form the area's block structure originated during the Cimmerian phase of tectogenesis. In contrast, the overlying anhydrites and younger deposits are not fractured. A geological model of the field was established, the distribution of reservoirs in the environment was studied in detail, bioherm structures and reservoir faults were identified in well sections, and the potential to increase geological oil reserves by 15,6% was substantiated.
