<jats:p>This article presents a comparative analysis of the linguopragmatic functions of deictic expressions in the realization of politeness strategies in English and Uzbek. It examines the role of person, social, spatial, and temporal deixis in regulating positive and negative communicative distance between the speaker and the hearer. The study also discusses the theoretical approaches of G. Yule, S.Levinson, and P.Brown, as well as the distinctive features of the grammaticalized system of social deixis in the Uzbek language.</jats:p>
