Abstract
<jats:p>This article examines the didactic conditions for developing the biological competence of students studying Biology in higher education institutions. The content and essence of the concept of biological competence are revealed, and its structural components and significance in the process of biology education are analyzed. The ability of students to apply biological knowledge in practice, analyze biological processes and phenomena, make independent decisions in problem-based situations, and conduct experimental and research activities is substantiated as an important indicator of biological competence.
