Abstract
<jats:p>This article examines the development of self-management skills among students and analyzes their significance in the emergence and manifestation of procrastination from a psychological perspective. During university education, the ability to organize learning activities Zamonaviy jamiyat va innovatsiyalar ilmiy nazariy jurnali 2026-yil, 8-Son, 1-Qism. ISSN 3060-544X independently, allocate time effectively, establish goals and priorities, and regulate one’s own behavior becomes particularly important. Insufficiently developed self-management skills may contribute to delaying academic tasks, avoiding important responsibilities, postponing decision- making, and using time inefficiently. In the article, procrastination is viewed not merely as a time- management problem but as a complex psychological phenomenon associated with motivational, emotional, and cognitive regulation processes. Particular attention is paid to the relationship between students’ self-management abilities and their tendency to postpone academic activities. The article substantiates the idea that the development of self-management skills can serve as an important psychological condition for preventing and reducing procrastination in students’ academic activities.</jats:p>
