Abstract

This article analyzes the formation and historical development of Western humanism within the traditions of the European Renaissance, the Enlightenment, and liberal thought. Human freedom, dignity, intellectual potential, rights, and individual autonomy are examined as fundamental principles of humanistic thought. The study comparatively analyzes how the humanistic ideas of the Renaissance were enriched by the concepts of rationalism and natural rights during the Enlightenment and how the principles of individual freedom, equality, and the rule of law subsequently developed within liberalism. The findings substantiate the theoretical significance of Western humanism in the formation of modern human rights and democratic values.
