Earth Continuity Conductor for 110-500 kV Cable Lines. Purposes and Calculations

<jats:p>When designing 110-500 kV HV cable lines of a relatively short length (not exceeding hundreds of meters), it is possible to encounter cases where a so called earth conti- nuity conductor (ECC) is laid along the cables. In certain cases, such conductor can be made of copper or aluminum with a cross-section of up to 500 mm2, and is provided with the black polyethylene sheath. The cost of such technical solution might be quite suffi cient, and, therefore, it is important to know its purpose and to suggest a simple method of its calculation.</jats:p>
