Abstract
The course Form and Analysis of Musical Works is a foundational subject in music education programs at universities in both Mongolia and China. By analyzing the structure and form of musical compositions, it enables students to develop a deeper understanding of the essence, style, and techniques of music. However, due to differing historical and cultural contexts, the development of this course in the two countries exhibits distinct characteristics. Based on a review of relevant literature, this paper systematically analyzes the development trends of Form and Analysis courses in Mongolian and Chinese universities since the 20th century, focusing on teaching content, methodologies, and the process of localization. The study finds that Chinese universities have made significant progress in curriculum reform and in integrating local musical elements, whereas Mongolian institutions, initially modeled on the Soviet music education system, have increasingly emphasized the incorporation of traditional musical features and pedagogical innovation after independence. The paper concludes with suggestions for further curricular reform, highlighting the importance of cultural preservation and educational innovation in the context of globalization.
