Abstract
<jats:p>When Academic Publishing Is Too Slow: Rapid Ethical Knowledge Response for Vulnerable Communities introduces the Rapid Ethical Knowledge Response Model as a structured approach for responding to research harm, safeguarding concerns, and publication-related ethical risks when conventional academic publishing cycles are too slow to protect affected communities. The white paper addresses a critical gap between academic knowledge production and real-time safeguarding responsibility. Vulnerable communities, non-profit organisations, host institutions, and community partners may experience harm through research access misuse, consent mismatch, contextual identifiability, publication framing, terminology, or reputational exposure long before the academic system produces a formal response. In such contexts, waiting for traditional scholarly publication may leave affected communities without timely ethical language, documentation, or institutional support. This white paper positions rapid ethical knowledge response as a necessary applied knowledge function within non-profit research methodology.
