Which Treatments Actually Help Patients Stop Vaping?

<jats:p>Among three pharmacologic treatments studied (nicotine replacement therapy, varenicline, and cytisine), only varenicline showed low-certainty evidence for increasing vaping cessation. The effective dose was 1 mg twice daily, the FDA-approved regimen for cigarette cessation. Text message-based interventions (often grounded in CBT principles) may increase cessation rates in adolescents and young adults aged 13 to 24. Benefit was not seen in older adults. Evidence is low-certainty across the board due to small samples, short follow-up, and risk of bias. Consider starting with psychosocial treatment; reserve varenicline for patients who do not have an adequate response.</jats:p>
