ИЗ ДРЕВНЕЙ ИСТОРИИ НЕФТИ

<jats:p>Считается, что именно в Междуречье родилось слово нефть. Общим для нефти и ее производных в древних источниках было еще и другое слово – битум. Археологи обнаружили следы битума на каменных орудиях неандертальцев времен палеолита – т.е. более 40 тысяч лет назад. Археологи полагают, что битум (нефть, асфальт) стал одним из первых продуктов торгового обмена у жителей Месопотамии (аккадцев и шумеров), и способствовал созданию их цивилизации. Слово нефть на других языках отражает географию мест, где человек впервые ее увидел и начал применять.</jats:p> <jats:p>It is believed that the first word for petroleum — naphtha — was born in Mesopotamia. In ancient sources, petrolum and its derivatives shared yet another common term - bitumen. Archaeologists have found traces of bitumen on Neanderthal stone tools dating back to the Paleolithic era — that is, over 40,000 years ago. Scholars suggest that bitumen (petroleum, asphalt) was among the first commodities traded by the inhabitants of Mesopotamia (Akkadians and Sumerians) and contributed to the rise of their civilization. The word for petroleum in other languages reflects the geography of the places where humans first encountered and began to use it.</jats:p>
