Abstract
The article discusses the issues of studying the creative process, which are still relevant today. An analysis of the creative process in the context of culture proves to be productive. This approach necessitates a comparison of various works, arts, and philosophical views. The article examines the work of Igor Stravinsky in this context. In the first period, the Russian one, the author draws parallels with the poetry of Velimir Khlebnikov, who “resurrected” the ancient word. In the second period, the neoclassical one, there are similarities with the poetry of the Acmeists, with their tendency towards stylization and the cult of mastery. Stravinsky's turn to serialism in his later works was influenced by T. S. Eliot, W. H. Auden, and D. Thomas. Their works inspired Stravinsky to embrace symbolism, which aimed to create a hermetic language suitable for expressing “eternal” and supra-personal themes through sound. Stravinsky's later works exhibit elements of the theories of Russian and Western Symbolists. The author concludes that the impressions of his youth and his connection with the artistic culture of early 20th-century Russia had a profound impact on his entire career.
