Abstract
The monograph Children's Home in the Czech Society of the 21st Century deals with the issue of contemporary children's homes. The book responds to the current debate on the need and restructuring of children's homes. The main aim of the monograph is to provide a detailed insight into the educational reality of the children's home and to contribute to the discussion about its future. The focus is on the reasons for ordering institutional education, the readiness of young adults to leave the children's home and their integration into society. The book starts with the current state of knowledge, places the issue of children's homes in a legislative framework and presents a methodological design. We then describe the research setting and the target group of children and young adults. Next, the book presents research findings, based on which a progressive concept of the children's home for the 21st century is formulated.
