Abstract

<jats:p>Based on the analysis of the functional characteristics of deradicalization as a special tool for countering terrorism and extremism, the directions and mechanisms of convergence of the national legislation of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States, as well as the forms of their international cooperation in this field are revealed.The problems of legislation and practice of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States that reduce the effectiveness of activities in the field of deradicalization have been identified. It is proposed to identify and legally formalize deradicalization as a tool for the prevention of extremist and terrorist offenses. Proposals have been formulated to supplement the national legislation of the member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States in the field of crime prevention, in the field of search, receipt, transmission, production and dissemination of information, as well as penal enforcement legislation. The author proposes the conclusion of a specialized agreement between the member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States in the field of deradicalization and formulates proposals for amendments to existing treaties and agreements of the Commonwealth of Independent States.</jats:p>
