Abstract

<jats:p>The elemental composition of biological objects of plant and animal origin is highly diverse and forms the basis of the biogenic and bio-inert parts of the biosphere. Numerous different methods exist for determining the elemental composition of living organisms. In this study, this problem was addressed using atomic emission spectral analysis in the arc discharge zone. It is known that the elements being determined under these conditions exist as single-ionization atoms or ions. Their ratio for a single element can vary significantly with variations in plasma parameters and affect the magnitude of the analytical signal of the element being determined. Clearly, this feature can have a significant impact on the metrological characteristics of the obtained analytical results. Therefore, monitoring and evaluating arc discharge plasma parameters during spectral analysis is a key requirement for obtaining reliable results. When using the "dry ashing" method at the sample preparation stage, the influence of the matrix is crucial. Therefore, to successfully model the processes occurring in arc discharge plasma, it is necessary to conduct a preliminary assessment of the presence of macroelements and determine their form in the ash residue of the studied samples. To this end, models simulating populations of a wide range of plant and animal species were created. Plasma parameters were calculated using the Ornstein method, using the Boltzmann and Saha equations. A specialized program, "Spectrum," was developed to calculate the plasma parameters, streamlining the calculation procedures. The research resulted in the development of a universal analytical approach to determining the elemental analysis of biological samples and substantiating its application areas.
