Abstract
<jats:p>The Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia, adopted on 30 June 2021 (hereinafter also referred to as the Code), for the first time introduced house arrest and administrative/judicial supervision (contrôle judiciaire) as alternative preventive measures. Although the Code contains separate provisions and articles regulating each of these measures, in practice, situations arise for which the Code provides no regulation or regulates ambiguously. This is primarily due to the fact that preventive measures in the form of house arrest and administrative/judicial supervision were introduced for the first time in the Code, whereas the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia, adopted on 1 July 1998 and repealed as of 1 July 2022 (hereinafter - the Former Code) did not provide for such alternative preventive measures. In the context of newly introduced preventive measures, it is natural that issues relating to their practical application may arise, as well as legislative gaps and deficiencies become apparent.</jats:p>
