Abstract
<jats:p>Human trafficking is considered a manifestation of modern slavery, involving the exploitation of vulnerable individuals. While historically, slavery was recognized as an explicit legal status, today it manifests in forms such as forced labor, sexual exploitation, and other types of servitude. The causes of human trafficking are diverse: in some cases, they stem from socioeconomic insecurity, while in others, they are linked to weak legal systems and the operations of international criminal networks. Combating this phenomenon requires a comprehensive approach, including preventive measures, legislative reforms, and cooperation among law enforcement agencies. This article examines the criminological profile of human trafficking victims, highlighting their social, age, gender, and psychological characteristics, as well as the mechanisms used by criminals to select their victims. Additionally, the article analyzes statistical data on human trafficking, identifies trends in its prevalence, and proposes legal, social, and law enforcement mechanisms for its prevention.</jats:p>
