RECENT ADVANCEMENTS IN THE EXPLORATION OF N-HETEROCYCLIC FRAMEWORKS AS ANTI-TB CHEMOTYPES: SYNTHETIC ROUTE AND BIOLOGICAL EVALUATION

<jats:p>Tuberculosis (TB) is a preventable and usually curable disease. Nonetheless, more than 10 million people continue to fall ill with TB every year, and more than 1 million die from the disease, making it the world’s leading cause of death from a single infectious agent and among the top 10 causes of death worldwide. Despite recent advancements in drug discovery and treatment strategies, heterocycles play a vital role in successful treatment against resistant TB strains. In search for new molecular entities as anti-TB agents, the nitrogen-containing heterocyclic framework has been designed. On the search for new therapeutic agents against tuberculosis, emphasizing the importance of continued research and innovation in the field, this chapter highlights the recent developments in the study of new N-heterocyclic compounds as anti-TB agents</jats:p>
