Abstract
<jats:p>This book collects advances in the methods for the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds and their applications in medicinal chemistry and other fields. Heterocyclic compounds seek attention due to their wide occurrence in natural products, drugs, dyes and materials. Chapter – 1 collects new methods for the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds. In Chapter – 2, novel approaches for the synthesis of pyridines are presented. In Chapter – 3, synthesis of chalcones and their antimicrobial studies is reported. Chapter - 4 delves synthetic strategies for aza-heterocycles using Fischer-type carbene complexes. Chapter - 5 gives information related to synthesis of aza-heterocycles and their anti-tubercular properties. In Chapter – 6, synthesis of β-lactams using Kinigasa reaction is described. Chapter – 7 is devoted to applications of 1,3-binucleophiles in the synthesis of pyrroles, imidazoles and thiazoles. Interestingly, in Chapter – 8, synthesis, biological and energy applications of heterocyclic compounds is reported. Chapter – 9 reports anticancer effects of piperazine-pyrimidine hybrids. Finally, Chapter – 10 deals with synthetic applications of β,β-disubstituted enones and oximes in the synthesis of nitrogen containing heterocycles. I hope this book will be beneficial to researchers to design new methods for the synthesis of heterocycles and to explore their applications.</jats:p>
