Abstract

This book is intended as a contribution to the highly topical issue of the “Janus-faced nature of infrastructural power.” On the one hand, the call for the improvement and maintenance of state-managed infrastructure services is seen as a sign of participation in the project of a modern, capable state; on the other hand, the experience of infrastructure vulnerability permeates our daily lives more than ever before. This vulnerability places the state’s responsibility for infrastructure under ever-increasing pressure to prove itself. Therefore, beyond the technical aspects of infrastructure and its improvement, a multi-perspective and interdisciplinary examination of infrastructural power is required. This book aims to make a further contribution to this endeavor.
