Abstract

Disruptive developments in business, technology and society are forcing decision-makers to part with the control illusion of a predictable future. The alliance of business administration and individual psychology can no longer ignore the breaks in coherence that occur in the process of organizing. How can decision-makers process this new situation in their decision-making processes? Decision-making under uncertainty requires a new way of thinking without illusions of feasibility. Contingency and the resulting uncertainty are both a problem and a solution at the same time: a problem in the synchronisation of decision and implementation, a solution in the use of the leeway created by contingency as a resource.
