Abstract

Angelika Meier (b. 1968) is a unique figure in contemporary German-language literature: philosophically incisive, overflowing with intertextuality, and at once humorous, melancholic, and formally daring. Her novels, short stories, and essays engage in a playful and masterful exploration of pop culture and intermedial reflection, combining linguistic wit with a radical subversion of reading conventions. This volume brings together, for the first time, a broad literary-scholarly examination of Meier’s work. The contributions explore poetological methods, cultural-theoretical contexts, and aesthetic strategies. A volume for anyone who wants to know just how clever, playful, and radical contemporary literature can be who defies categorization.
