Abstract
<jats:p>SUMMARY The Armenian Apostolic Church was not only a religious institution, but also a key center of national identity and social organization. As a result, it became the target of deliberate actions by the Turkish military and political leadership during the TurkishArmenian War of 1920. This article analyzes the systematic crimes committed by the Turkish army against Armenian church structures, clergy, and church property. These included the mass destruction of churches, the looting of monastic complexes, as well as the physical extermination of the clergy or their forced displacement. The study is based on materials from the National Archives of Armenia, the research collections of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, periodicals of the time, as well as the results of field ethnographic research and an analysis of specialized academic literature.</jats:p>
