<jats:p>SUMMARY This article is a review of the monograph “The Role of Holy Etchmiadzin in the Armenian Liberation Struggle of the 16th—17th Centuries,” written by Fr. Ararat Poghosyan, a scholar-clergyman of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. The study is devoted to highlighting and evaluating the activities of Holy Etchmiadzin, the panArmenian national institution and citadel, and the work of its worthy rulers in the Armenian national liberation struggle of the 16th—17th centuries. It should be emphasized that the period examined in this monograph is one of the least studied periods in Armenian history. Many key issues and events of this period have yet to be subjected to systematic and in-depth scholarly research and analysis. Therefore, it has become a priority to stimulate research interest in those historical topics which, despite their importance, have been excluded from the attention and comprehensive study of the broader academic community. In this context, the publication of scholarly research conducted on the basis of an extensive source base and with appropriate methodological justification becomes particularly relevant. Today, more than ever, Armenian historiography faces the need to defend its people’s historical path and civilizational achievements against various distortions. Therefore, Armenian scholars should continue to expand the source base for their research. The comprehensive and critical use of documents in foreign languages is particularly important. This will significantly contribute to a more thorough and convincing presentation of Armenia’s cultural and political presence in the region. The subject of this monograph is timely and holds significant scholarly and Armenological value. The work is written from a historicist perspective and employs a scholarly approach. It represents a substantial contribution to the synthesis of the history of the Armenian Church, the Armenian people, and the Armenian liberation struggle.</jats:p>
