Abstract
<jats:p>SUMMARY In the patriotic activities of His Holiness Karekin II Nersisyan, Catholicos of All Armenians, his position on the Armenian Genocide occupies a special place. Catholicos Karekin II viewed the Armenian Genocide and the Armenian Question from a historical, political, and universal human perspective, clearly characterized the perpetrators of the genocide, its causes and consequences, gave a political assessment of the Armenian Question, attached particular importance to the demand for justice, and emphasized the need to condemn the genocide. Catholicos Karekin II consistently supported the Republic of Armenia in its policy of recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide in international ecclesiastical and diplomatic arenas, delivered influential speeches at prestigious international events, using these high-profile platforms to campaign for recognition of the Armenian Genocide, as well as to evaluate all initiatives related to the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide. Catholicos Karekin II highly values scholars, who have made significant contributions to genocide research. During his reign, “Etchmiadzin” journal became an important academic publication on the study of genocide. Of particular value are studies, memoirs, and reviews on the methodological, legal, and source-related aspects of genocide, the history of the Armenian Question, the liberation struggle, and its leaders. During the reign of Catholicos Karekin II, valuable works and collections of documents on the history of the Armenian Genocide and the Armenian Question were published.</jats:p>
