Abstract
The purpose of the study is to identify the relationship between the solution to the problem of the social ideal and the substantiation of the concept of “scientific socialism” in the philosophy of P.L.Lavrov. The article presents a philosophical analysis of P.L.Lavrov’s ideas about the problem of the social ideal in the context of the intellectual genealogy of the phenomenon of “scientific socialism”. The scientific novelty lies in the specific perspective of the research, which allows the use of a historical-philosophical approach in the analysis of the designated socio-philosophical problems contained in the ideological legacy of the Russian philosopher. As a result of the study, the author comes to the conclusion that the social philosophy of P.L.Lavrov was based on the dogmatic acceptance of socialism as an exclusive version of the social ideal, allowing for the balancing of personal and public interests, and which received theoretical justification on the foundation of the so-called “scientific socialism”, which, according to the philosopher, was the highest point of the historical development of critical thought.
