SPECIALLY PROTECTED NATURAL AREAS IN THE ZONAL‑LANDSCAPE STRUCTURE OF THE BOLSHAYA ZEMLYA TUNDRA

<jats:p>The system of specially protected natural areas (SPNAs) of the Bolshezemelskaya tundra, which is entirely located within the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, has been examined. The zonal landscape structure of the Bolshezemelskaya tundra and groups of local natural territorial complexes at the level of natural features are characterized. When characterizing the system of protected areas in the territory, it was revealed that the areas of protected areas in the southern forest‑tundra are clearly insufficient to maintain ecological balance, especially considering the current intensive industrial use of the territory. Monitoring studies of protected areas in natural‑territorial complexes of zonal type (forest and tundra) are conducted insufficiently and either under atypical conditions or with a limited range of studies.</jats:p>
