Baltic Influence in the Forest Zone of Eastern Europe During the Great Migration Period and the Baltic Fluvial South — North River Route

<jats:p>One route for the diffusion of Baltic cultural elements during the Great Migration Period in the forest zone of Eastern Europe ran along the rivers connecting the Western Dvina basin and Lake Peipus. This route was revealed by archaeological finds. Armed groups, largely composed of Balts, may have traveled along this route. Finds along this route also indicate the emergence of local Finnish elites, who likely controlled the waterway between the Western Dvina basin and Lake Peipus.</jats:p>
