Abstract

This paper examines hybrid modular architecture (HMA) in healthcare infrastructure, within the context of pressures generated by health crises, accelerated urbanization, and the need for rapid adaptation of medical capacity. The study is theoretical and applied in nature, based on specialized literature and relevant case studies, aiming to evaluate the role of modularity in increasing the flexibility of healthcare systems. The principles of HMA are presented through the integration of prefabricated modules with conventional structures, highlighting advantages related to reduced construction time, phased expansion, and functional adaptability of spaces. The analysis also addresses urban-scale implications, where modular extensions are interpreted as territorial planning instruments capable of responding to fluctuating demand and emergency situations. Additionally, the paper discusses the conditions required for technical and functional integration within existing networks, as well as limitations associated with implementation, including regulatory and operational aspects. Overall, the study indicates that HMA represents a relevant direction for the development of healthcare infrastructure, contributing to flexibility, efficiency, and rational resource use.
