<jats:p>This article aims to share Gagik Ginosyan’s unpublished analysis on the relationship between Armenian national dance and identity with a broader audience. It explores the origins and development of dance, using the “Echmiadzin” dance from the Karin region as a prime example. The analysis covers various aspects – from dance steps to semantics, and from totemism to reinterpretation under the influence of Christianity – revealing the intricate connections between dance and identity, the spiritual dimensions of dance, and its role in shaping identity and self-recognition.</jats:p>
