Abstract
Economic restructuring directly affects a country's food security. This issue is particularly critical for the Republic of Armenia, where geographic constraints and regional geopolitical developments exert a heavy influence on domestic food supplies. This article examines current threats to Armenia's food security, focusing specifically on the agricultural sector's performance over the last decade. Using data collection and analysis methods, the study evaluates the outcomes of agricultural and food security policies implemented over the past ten to thirty years. The findings reveal a troubling trend: despite numerous government decrees, concepts, and sector strategies, the production of essential food products, cultivated land areas, and average crop yields have steadily declined over the past decade. The situation regarding domestic food security has not meaningfully improved. The scientific novelty of this research lies in its demonstration that Armenia's existing institutions and mechanisms are inadequate for managing emerging economic demands. To confront upcoming food security challenges, the study proposes forming new institutional frameworks, selectively restoring effective historical mechanisms, and fundamentally rethinking current agricultural policy. Ultimately, sectoral strategies must be urgently revised to align with the realities of regional and global economic developments Keywords: food, security, safety, agriculture, food availability, agricultural issues, food insecurity, self-sufficiency, security issues, food insecurity
