Various measures are used to prevent early infections, including antimicrobial therapy for pregnant women at high risk of transmission and preventive interventions for newborns with an increased risk of infection. Late-onset neonatal bacterial infections are predominantly nosocomial in origin, making infection control measures particularly important.
