Վերանվանման գործընթացը Արցախի տեղանվանական համակարգում․ հիմունքներ, պատճառներ ու հետևանքներ

<jats:p>The renaming of oikonyms in the toponymic system of Artsakh is a multilayered process shaped by the interaction of historical, linguistic, cultural, and political factors. The renaming causes changes to the semantic content of an oikonym, the perception of its historical biography, and its symbolic value in public consciousness. The renaming is grounded on administrative-territorial restructuring, socioeconomic relations and the ideological changes that reflect them, linguistic contacts, as well as requirements of written documentation and cartographic representation. In different historical periods, translation, phonetic transformation, calquing, reinterpretation, transliteration, literary normalization and standardization have served as mechanisms of oikonymic changes. The examples of Drnavarz/Karmir Gyugh, Stepanakert, Shahumyan, Amaras, Khachen, Vardashat, Karmrakuch, Patara, Arakel, Garnakar, Mehtishen/Lusadzor, and others show that renaming often recodes the historical memory of a territory, in some cases restoring, and in others disrupting, the connection between the name and the actual historical-geographical environment. This process leads to the parallel use of old and new names, cartographic and documentary heterogeneity, fragmentation of spatial biography, and formation of new symbolic layers of identity. The changes in the oikonyms of Artsakh reflect the political, cultural, and linguistic realities of different historical periods and serve as important evidence of the reconfiguration of the territory’s historical memory and identity.</jats:p>
