Abstract

The article analyses international legal standards for the protection of the right to a fair trial by examining the mechanisms of their formation, application, and development within universal and regional human rights systems. These standards are understood as a set of normative and inter-pretative criteria that clarify the content and limits of fair trial guarantees. The study draws on a comparative analysis of Article 14 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, Article 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights, and equivalent provisions in the Inter-American and African regional frameworks, highlighting both shared foundational values and divergences in normative elaboration and supervisory intensity.
