<jats:p>The Ballad of Aslan ("Aslan Agհa" or "Kaguan Aslan") first became known in 1892 with the publication of the first two versions, recorded by folklorist Garegin Hovsepian from Moks’ narrators. For certain reasons, the folklorist for a long time avoided revealing the names of his informantnarrators. Through comparison and analysis of the available materials, the identity of the story-teller of the first version has been clarified: Mokatsi Hovan (Hovan from Moks), also known as the narrator of one of the versions of the epic "Sasna Tsrer" ("Daredevils of Sassoun") and other materials.</jats:p>
