<jats:p>The renowned scholar, composer and pedagogue Kristapor Kushnaryan paid a particular attention to the genres of traditional classical music of the peoples of the Middle East. The ideas and significant assumptions in his monograph refer to the mutual cultural influences, the genetic basis and origins of the phenomena, generally peculiar to the East, deeply rooted and widespread among the Armenian populace.The commonality in the modal systems, Armenian musicians’ historical mission in the field as well as analytical outlines regarding many other issues, are indicative of the scholar’s merits in Oriental musical studies; they serve as a worthwhile guidance for orientalist musicians in their research still nowadays.</jats:p>
