Abstract
This field note introduces the 5-Phase user experience (UX) Design Loop as a transformative framework for education R&D teams. As AI technologies accelerate development cycles, this methodology helps teams navigate the shift from traditional static design to rapid, code-first prototyping. The loop emphasizes a cyclical, iterative process: aligning on core problems, designing concepts based on user needs, translating ideas into testable interfaces, conducting feedback sessions with real people, and synthesizing insights to drive informed product decisions. By leveraging AI-powered tools like V0 and Cursor, development teams can significantly compress the time from ideation to prototype, allowing greater focus on the critical human-led work of deep understanding and team alignment. The authors further address unique sector-specific challenges, including distinguishing between end-users and purchasers, identifying representative testing environments, and establishing meaningful metrics for small-scale learning.
