Abstract
<jats:p>The article is devoted to the study of phraseological units with the component "bread" in German and Armenian. The comparison shows that the component "bread" in the phraseological units of both languages displays many connotative meanings, both implicitly and explicitly. In both languages, "bread" is considered primarily a means of subsistence and is associated with a good or a bad financial condition or status a person. But in both languages, the meanings of phraseological units basically do not coincide, and this is due to geographical distance, different mentality, including linguistic mentality and different world perceptions of these peoples.</jats:p>
