Abstract
<jats:p>The aim of the monograph was to describe and present the advantages and disadvantages of a new, potential source of stem cells – stem cells derived from cadavers. Over the last dozen or so years, dozens of reports have appeared on successful attempts to isolate these cells from human cadavers and studies showing their therapeutic effects in the treatment of many diseases. The presented review focuses on the current studies on CaSCs, both in vitro and in vivo. In addition, numerous solutions in the construction of scaffolds for stem cells and other cells implanted as prostheses for damaged organs are described. A summary of achievements concerning gene expression in cells after death and their effect on cell viability in the post-mortem environment is also made.</jats:p>
