Artificial intelligence in the diagnosis of acute abdomen: current state and prospects for clinical application

<jats:p>Acute abdomen is one of the most common causes of emergency hospitalization and requires timely diagnosis. Despite advances in modern diagnostic methods, differential diagnosis of abdominal diseases remains a challenging clinical problem. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies is considered a promising approach to improving diagnostic accuracy. Objective. To analyze current scientific data on the use of AI technologies in the diagnosis of diseases presenting as acute abdomen. Materials and methods. A review of publications indexed in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science and eLibrary.ru from 2015 to 2025 was conducted. Results. The use of AI technologies improves the diagnostic accuracy of acute surgical diseases of the abdominal cavity and supports clinical decision-making. Conclusion. AI technologies have significant potential in the diagnosis of diseases presenting as acute abdomen; however, further research and clinical validation are required.
