<jats:p>The study presents the history of the Battle of Oshakan, one of the important events of the Russo-Persian War of 1826-1828. The sudden attack of the Persians on the spiritual center of the Armenians, Echmiadzin, could have had catastrophic consequences if the Russian army general Afanasy Krasovsky had not voluntarily come to the aid of the local Christian defenders with his small forces. A bloody battle takes place near Oshakan, the presentation of the events of which formed the basis of the research article. Success against the three times superior Persian forces was ensured by the rearguard attack of the monks of Echmiadzin and wounded Russian soldiers. The Battle of Oshakan is one of the key episodes of the Russo-Persian War of 1826-1828 and a special manifestation of the Armenian-Russian fraternal military cooperation. The study used the methods of identifying historical facts, comparing them, identifying etymological and cause-and-effect relationships, as well as formulating conclusions.</jats:p>
