Abstract
<jats:p>Recently, Li-ion batteries have found wide application in transport, energy, and industry. The battery is controlled by a microprocessor control unit (battery management system), one of the functions of which is cell balancing. The article presents the results of statistical simulation modeling of balancing a line of Li-ion cells in the process of standardized cycling. The speed of reaching the maximum battery capacity at the initial variation in the degree of charge and electrical-capacitance parameters of the cells is investigated as a function of the voltage difference between the beginning and end of balancing. A qualitative analysis of the optimal value of the voltage difference between the beginning and the end of balancing is given. Based on numerical modeling, the dependence of the balancing speed on the voltage difference between the beginning of ΔUб,st and the end of balancing ΔUб,fin is constructed for different values of the spread of the electrical-capacitance parameters of the cells and the process parameters. It is shown that the maximum balancing speed is achieved when the voltage difference at the end of balancing is less than the voltage difference at the beginning of balancing, i. e. ΔUб,fin < ΔUб,st. The range of values ΔUб,fin and ΔUб,st, which ensure the maximum balancing speed, is relatively small and depends on the spread of the electrical-capacitance parameters of the cells and the balancing features, which prevents a priori adjustment of these parameters. It is shown that the random noise of electrical measurements does not significantly affect the optimal ratio of the values ΔUб,st and ΔUб,fin, leads to a slight increase in their values and can reduce the maximum balancing speed. The results obtained can be used to optimize the operation of active balancing of Li-ion batteries.</jats:p>
