Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Its Environmental Impacts

<jats:p>This chapter examines environmental dimension of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as a strategic imperative for sustainable development. It traces CSR's evolution from philanthropy to a core business strategy, driven by crises, societal pressure, and global regulations. The analysis covers theoretical foundations, practical applications like reducing carbon footprints and implementing circular economy models, and performance impacts, including financial and reputational benefits. Standardization through frameworks like GRI and ISO is highlighted. Global policy, from the SDGs to the EU's CSRD, is creating a more regulated landscape. The persistent challenge of greenwashing is critically analyzed as a threat to trust. The conclusion asserts that deep, transparent integration of environmental responsibility into governance is essential for long-term resilience and value creation.</jats:p>
