Abstract

Well-being is a multidimensional construct involving physical, psychological, and social dimensions and extends beyond the absence of disease. Hedonic well-being focuses on happiness and life satisfaction, whereas eudaimonic well-being emphasizes meaning, self-realization, and personal growth. Addiction is a complex biopsychosocial condition characterized by loss of control, compulsive behavior, tolerance, withdrawal, and functional impairment. Both substance and behavioral addictions negatively affect well-being and quality of life. Physical activity is a major determinant of health and well-being, contributing positively to physical, psychological, and social functioning. In contrast, physical inactivity increases health risks and reduces quality of life. The relationship among well-being, addiction, and physical activity is dynamic and reciprocal. Low well-being may increase addiction risk, while addiction further decreases well-being. Regular physical activity plays a protective role by reducing stress, improving self-regulation, and supporting psychological resilience.
