Supporting Homeless Women Veteran Pathways to Higher Education and Social Reintegration

<jats:p>.Women veterans represent the fastest-growing segment of the United States veteran population, yet they face disproportionate rates of homelessness and significant barriers to higher education. This paper examines the intersecting social, economic, and psychological challenges experienced by homeless women veterans. It explores how access to higher education can serve as a pathway to long-term stability and reintegration. The Dept of Housing and Urban Development (2023) and the Dept of Veterans Affairs (2022) show that the study identifies key risk factors, such as financial insecurity, posttraumatic stress disorder, and single parenthood, that most female veterans are dealing with when attempting to gain education. It also reviews effective federal, state, and nonprofit programs that combine housing stability with education and mental health support. Recommendations include expanded housing programs, childcare assistance, and trauma-informed campus services to ensure that homeless women veterans can achieve sustainable educational and economic outcomes.</jats:p>
